Clase de Luz: Actividades con el texto "School Uniform"

Hola a todos/as y Feliz año:

Os voy a presentar una serie de actividades que diseñé para trabajar con un texto escrito. Se trata del texto titulado School Uniform y espero que os guste el resultado:

Warm-up activity:

At the beginning of the session we can make a brainstorm activity about the tittle of the text we are
going to work with. The students can say words (nouns, adjectives....) related to the topic.
Let's do a brainstorm. Think about all the words related to the topic of the text and we will write
them to see what comes out.

Activity 1:
Now we can try to figure out what the text is about. We can analyse it after the brainstorm. We can
also talk about the student's opinion about school uniforms and what they consider better or worse.

If I give you the tittle “School Uniform” what do you think the text might be about?. And what is
your opinion about school uniforms? Do you think it is better to wear a school uniform or not?
What type of text do you think it is?

Activity 2:
Now we can read the text together. Each students can read a paragraph at loud.

We are going to read the text at loud. Each students (voluntary) is going to read a paragraph trying
to analyse the content.

Activity 3:
We should read the text again so that we are sure about the content of the text. After this second
time we are going to make a list of the words we don't know. Then, all together, we will try to
define the words of the list.

Let's write a list of words we don't know from the text. After this we are going to define them all
together, analysing the context of the words.

Activity 4:
Now we can make an exercise of true or false questions. I would give the students a list of
sentences and they have to choose if the sentences are true or false:

Read these sentences and decide if they are true or false. If you need it, read again the text:

1. Chris was angry because he couldn't use skirts during summer.
2. The school decided to revise its policy.
3. Chris was worried about people's laugh.
4. It was forbidden for boys to use skirts.
5. His friends think it was brave.
6. Nobody was proud of him.

Activity 5:
Now it would be great to ask them some questions about the text to see if they understood it or not.

Answer these questions about the text:

1. Why was Chris angry?
2. What did he understood after reading the school policy?
3. What was his intention?
4. What did Chris tell to the BBC?
5. Did he achieve his aim?

Activity 6:
Now as homework the students could write an essay about what they would do if they were Chris.
This activity would be for homework.

Write an essay about what you would you If you were Chris. It can be fictional or it can be your
own opinion. If you want you can also draw a picture to illustrate your essay.

See you soon!
